Winter Activities

Over the second half of the autumn term we have been very busy here at the ELC! We have worked on a number of activities from fungi identification in our woodland to investigating the case of the Christmas cookie mystery. Other activities have included:

  • - Animation projects including Rama and Sita and the Vikings
  • - Making bath bombs as a Christmas treat whilst learning about the chemical reaction process
  • - Identifying predator and prey relationships in our woodland - this literacy and science activity followed the steps of ‘The Gruffalo’ through the woods identifying the creatures that lived there

The snow fall - although disruptive – allowed for beautiful winter landscapes and is a great way to track animals. Many woodland animals are still active over the winter months such as, fox, badgers, squirrels, and birds. These animals need to find and eat plenty of food to ensure that they produce enough energy to keep warm. When looking for food they leave their tracks in the snow. Below are a few of the common tracks that you may see. Next time it snows keep an eye out for them!
